Accounts of the Governor, 1853-1857.

Ledger contains balanced accounts of expenditures and receipts for the Governor's office under the following headings: State Arsenal, Governor's House, State Treasurer, Interest Fund, Surplus Revenue Fund, and State Land Fund for the Purchase of State Indebtness. Entries variously include date; amount of disbursement or receipt; name of payee or payor; and cause for disbursement (e.g., Governor's mansion upkeep; Auditor's warrant on the State Treasury) or receipt (e.g., amount drawn on contingency fund; state indebtness purchased, canceled, delivered over to the Auditor). Also included are accounts with state transfer agent in New York and various contractors.
